7 days in Tokaj I.

Tokaj here means the Tokaj Wine Region, and within it our village of Erdőbénye.

Perhaps a short introduction will help: a volcanic chain of hills called the Zemplén in the north of Hungary. Today covered by forest, this relatively untouched area is full of wild animals.

The Tokaj Wine Region, or Tokaj-Hegyalja (lit. Tokaj Foothills) as it is known in Hungarian is the southern part of the hills from Abaújszántó and Szerencs to Sátoraljaújhely, indeed up to Viničky, in Slovakia.

Holiday in Karádi-Berger Winery: the 6th night is free!

So, we would like to invite you to our winery in Erdőbénye, to stay in our apartment, for a relaxing week. Erdőbénye lies in the centre of the wine region and there are many wineries, towns and villages, restaurants and trips within 25 kilometres. Sátoraljaújhely and the part of the Tokaj Wine Region in Slovakia is slightly further.

If you are going to Slovakia, do visit Košice, always an important town for our wine region, a main transport junction. Indeed, if you are coming from a city in Europe, check out the airport kassai repülőteret there as it is even closer than Budapest. You can rent a car or, if you’re staying with us and tell us in time, we can pick you up ….

In the next post we will recommend programmes, sights and more. Plenty for a whole week… it’ll be exciting!

But
now I would just like to tell you about our double apartment in our winery, Karádi-Berger.
The apartment is perfect for two couples or one or two families. The longer you
stay, the greater the discount. The sixth night is practically half price! Instead
of 180,000 HUF you pay 135,000 HUF. More information about our accommodation here
